Happiness Interviews: Linda Anderson EFT Tapping Coach

Linda Anderson

1. Out of ten how happy are you right now? 8

2. What ‘little things’ in your life make you happy and why?
My cat – he’s always so available and affectionate and I love his little head-butts; the sky – I love watching it change; my bicycle – gets me away from the computer and out into Nature on a regular basis, and I love the feeling of the air rushing by my ears – freedom!

3. Which particular people in your life make you happy and why?
My husband – he’s so patient and kind, and he loves me anyway, no matter how ‘Yorkshire’ and annoying I’m being; my kids – they never cease to amaze me – where did they come from?!; my closest friends – they’re funny, quirky, they inspire me and frequently remind me to believe in myself; my business peers for their companionship – we’re on the same path, growing ourselves in tandem with growing our businesses, and they never fail to inspire me; my clients for their courage and willingness to dig deep and face the ‘stuff’ (technical term) that’s been holding them back.

4. What do you feel would give you more happiness in your life right now?
The ability to stop and smell the coffee more often.

5. What makes you happy in your current relationships and why?
Being able to relax and feel safe to show up as Who I Really Am – after spending most of my life being Who They Want Me To Be (or more accurately, Who I Think They Want Me To Be)

6. What makes you happy about being a woman and why?
I love how women are really there for each other, cheering each other on and offering mutual support

7. What makes you happy about men and why?
That’s a surprisingly difficult question 🙂 I love the men in my life to bits – and they’re all in touch with their sensitive feminine side. So I guess I love men who have that beautiful balance of masculine and feminine, which makes them available for deep relationships.

8. What would make you more happy in the future and why?
If I could learn how to leverage my time – so I could have more ‘me’ time and spend more time with family and friends.

9. Out of ten how happy are you after answering these questions?
10 – I have so much to feel happy about!

For me, true happiness is an ‘inside-out’ thing – I haven’t always felt this way and I think in our culture we’ve been conditioned to look at it the other way around, i.e. things happen ‘out there’ and I’m happy or unhappy as a result. Now we have new information from the Law of Attraction teachings, everything starts in energy first, and happiness becomes a choice I can make moment-to-moment. I don’t manage to sustain this perspective all the time but I’m working on it and feel blessed to have been given the new information.

Turn That Frown Upside Down: A Technique that Makes this Happen

When I first heard that phrase I found it very irritating and patronising but the intention behind it is sound when it comes to the Law of Attraction.  It can be hard to be happy when crap things happen which they do from time to time.  But there is a technique that really, really helps to raise your vibrations from low to high.

Identify the Problem

Really think about exactly what the problem is.  Put it into words, either in your head or on paper.  Getting clear on what the issue is helps.  When you know what you are facing you can begin to deal with it and can move from distress or fear, to action.

Acknowledge Your Feelings

Sometimes when people try to work on the Law of Attraction they get stuck when they encounter difficult issues.  They panic that the negative feelings are counterproductive to the working with the Law of Attraction.  This has truth in it but the best way to move away from negativity is not to stuff down your feelings and worry about them being counterproductive but to acknowledge them.  Fronting things head on IS the quickest way to deal with things from the Law of Attraction perspective.  Stuffing down feelings and delaying action is a drain on your whole life.

So you have identified the problem and now you can acknowledge your feelings.  What are your feelings? Negative feelings come in many subtle tones ranging from mild ones like: slight displeasure and mild concern to raging anger, deep depression and paralysing anxiety.

Whatever your feelings are, acknowledge them.  Give them a voice and a name to help set them free.

Here’s an example I’ve recently encountered:

‘My internet connection is down. I feel frustrated and a bit guilty that I can’t work online or communicate with my friends ‘

The Final Step: What is Good About this Situation?

Turn the Problem Upside Down.  This is the key step and when you are not used to it it can seem ‘very creative’ at first.

Here are some different perspectives on my internet connection problem:

  • There are lots of things I really want to do.  Having the internet down gives me ‘permission’ to do them.
  • I’m missing being able to communicate with friends online but I can call them instead and arrange some real, face-to-face interaction
  • I can go and work somewhere else.   Try out a new coffee shop.  Enjoy the pleasure of something new.
  • It’s a good time to review my internet provider.  I could save money and get better service from another company.
  • Are there things I regularly miss out on because I’m online so much?  What other fun things could I do?

So not only does thinking about what is good about a situation help you feel better but it also motivates you towards positive change.  Sometimes its only by knowing what is wrong that we can find out what it is that we need and want.

Are you Struggling with the Law of Attraction?

The Luck Factor

Are you struggling to fully commit to open yourself up to the idea that you can manifest anything you want?

We live in a world where logic and practicalities dominate.  And at the moment the ‘science’ surrounding the Law of Attraction is not quite not in the hands of every day people.

At one point I was battling with the concept that my own energies could have the most powerful influence over the world around me.  The book The Luck Factor by Richard Wiseman enabled me to see how in a practical way having a positive mindset could make all the difference.  The books tagline is:

The Scientific Study of the Lucky Mind

What the book shows us is that practical results can be achieved by just having a more positive mindset.

Positive people are more likely to:

  • Be on the lookout for opportunities.  The researchers placed a five dollar bill outside the research center.  People who counted themselves as ‘lucky’ were more likely to find it.
  • Develop a wider circle of friends and acquaintances. People who considered themselves lucky were more trusting.  This meant that they were more likely to hear about opportunities which would help them in their lives.
  • Look on the bright side.  Even when negative things happened the researchers found that the ‘lucky’ people turned them on their heads and looked for the learning opportunities.

If you enjoy reading and feeling a bit unsure, read this book! It helps.
